During this epic journey, the Tesla Roadster traveled an astonishing 30,497 kilometers. This incredible feat was achieved with a total charging cost of just 328 Euro, demonstrating the economic benefits of electric mobility. The Roadster needed to traverse only 12 countries to get back to Germany, navigating diverse terrains and climates, yet performed flawlessly throughout the adventure.

The last kilometers
The final leg of this momentous journey was a 400 km drive from the famous Seed & Greet Ladepark Hilden to Hamburg, culminating in an emotional finish on June 8th. This final drive was not only a testament to the Roadster's reliability, but also a poignant conclusion to a remarkable chapter in electric vehicle history. As Rafael approached Hamburg, the anticipation and excitement were palpable, making the final moments of this adventure truly unforgettable.

The departure from Hilden was equally memorable, marked by a gathering of enthusiasts and supporters. The event featured a meeting of the famous round-the-world Tesla Roadster, where 80edays flags were distributed amidst an atmosphere of camaraderie. Attendees like Hansjörg von Gemmingen, the electric kilometer king, who already surpassed 2 Million km with his Tesla Model S, enjoyed food, engaged in lively chats, and participated in interviews with Strombock, all celebrating the Roadster's incredible journey and the spirit of electric mobility.

The last leg of the journey
Arriving at the port of Hamburg, where the Roadster began its second circumnavigation of the globe, the atmosphere was charged with emotion. Local fans gathered at a nearby restaurant to welcome the Roadster and Rafael, one of him the founder of the first electric car charger location platform in the world - Lemnet - Heiner Sietas. The journey also included a stop in Elsfleth to pick up some TIMBERCOAST Sailing Coffee, a unique brew shipped with zero emissions, embodying the eco-friendly values of the 80edays mission.

Conclusions of the trip
Rafael, our intrepid driver and initiator of this daring project, reported no back pain despite the extensive travel, a testament to the comfort and design of the Tesla Roadster. However, Rafael has announced that this Roadster will not be taking another trip around the world. The infrastructure for pure AC charging cars has deteriorated as drivers have become more adept at identifying and using DC charging stations, often to the exclusion of alternatives.

The Drehstromnetz, a network of plugs established in 2006, is once again becoming relevant for pure AC charging EVs like the Tesla Roadster and the old Renault ZOE. In light of these changes, future ecoGP events will now offer DC charging for all participants. We are actively looking for a partner to provide 25 CCS chargers with a maximum charging speed of 25 kW/h for the track, enabling us to host 50 competitors at the next ecoGP.

We have initiated discussions with several manufacturers and are excited to see who will be the first to say yes. The end is the Start
In the last Newsletter we reported about the start of 80edays 24.4.2024. In the meantime the cars have been transported to Miami via a container ship but facing new unexpected challenges.

After crossing the flooding in KZ some months ago again a flooding is causing #80edays issues to continue smoothly.

To be safe Rafael booked an appointment at Tesla for June 15th so that in case there would be an issue during the car transport to US Tesla would be prepared.

The ship arrived in time, run through customs seamlessly but Maresk denied to hand over the container on Friday stating an invoice being to be paid first. We checked the accounting and got aware that the freight forwarder paid the invoice and we too, so it was paid twice and the statement was twice not correct, but the guy was lazy and it was Friday ... you know this kind of people hating their jobs ... so a weekend lost because of one stubborn guy.

We tried to connect to the car to see if everything was ok but we got aware that probably the 12V battery died during the overseas transport. Well, no issue to replace it because of the scheduled appointment? A call at Tesla revealed the horrifying situation in Florida ... only the one Tesla Service Center in Ft. Lauderdale has more than 200 flooded Teslas waiting to be repaired and the lady at the phone stated that they can receive my Tesla but not repair it before July.

Obviously there will be no event in Florida, because of these extreme weather conditions, people are having to care to other things.on
